AAutoshield's "rock chip" repair service is available at our shop or on location by appointment. The general idea here is that you can save money by having your windshield repaired rather than replacing it! Also, if fully insured - most insurance companies pay for this service at no cost to you.
The key to "repair" versus "replacement" is whether or not you catch the rock chip in time! Typically, when a rock chip first occurs it is a small impact spot with short hairline cracks. However, with big temperature changes or driving conditions those cracks can expand and lengthen to the point where the chip becomes un-repairable.
WHAT IS CONSIDERED REPAIRABLE?
If the chip cracks are approximately 1 1/2" in length or less.
HOW DO WE FIX IT?
Simply put, we have a unique healing compound that is filled into the cracks through our small proprietary device. It works with a small built-in compressor and a pretty awesome little machine. In many cases your car insurance may cover your repair or replacement. We can help you determine that as well.
